REPORT ON RECEIPT OF DAY-OLD CHICKS UNDER THE NKOKO NKITINKITI PROGRAMME

The Upper Manya Krobo District Assembly has received day old chicks under the ‘Nkoko nkitinkiti Programme’. In total, the district received 10,000 day old chicks to support poultry production and improve local livelihoods. The chicks were received on 28th February 2026 and will be kept and managed for a period of four weeks before they are distributed to the identified beneficiaries across the district. This measure is to ensure that the chicks are stable and strong before they are handed over to farmers.

The district delegation that went to receive the chicks included the Member of Parliament District, Hon. Bismark Tetteh Nyarko, The District Chief Executive, Hon. Emmanuel Kwesi Laweh, and the District Director of Agriculture, Mr. Kwadwo Debrah. During the reception of the chicks, the officials delivered brief remarks, emphasizing the importance of the programme in boosting local poultry production, creating employment opportunities, and supporting food security in the district.

As part of the support package, the government also provided feed and vaccines to ensure the proper growth and health of the birds. The vaccines supplied include the Gamboro vaccine and the Ice Two vaccine, which will help protect the chicks from common poultry diseases during the early stages of their growth. An inspection was conducted to assess the condition of the chicks and the facilities where they are being kept. The inspection confirmed that the chicks are being properly managed and are in good condition as they undergo the required four-week brooding period before distribution to beneficiaries.

The Upper Manya Krobo District Assembly is committed to ensuring the proper care and management of the chicks during the four-week brooding period and will subsequently distribute them to the selected beneficiaries in line with the programme guidelines.
