The people of Upper Manya Krobo District joined the rest of the country to commemorate Ghana’s 69th
Independence Day celebration under the theme “Building Prosperity, Restoring Hope.” The event brought
together key stakeholders, traditional authorities, government officials, security services, teachers, students, and
members of the community.
The celebration was attended by the Traditional head of the Asesewa Divisional Council of Manya Krobo
Traditional Area, Nene Ofei Tagbaja, the Member of Parliament, Hon. Bismark Tetteh Nyarko, the District Chief
Executive, Hon. Emmanuel Kwesi Lawer, The District Coordinating Director, Mad. Eunice Naalier, The District
Police Commander, DCOP Benjamin Buckson, Heads of Departments, and other institutional heads from the
various security agencies. Teachers and students from various schools within the area also participated actively
in the event.The celebration began with the arrival of the dignitaries, followed by the singing of the national anthem and the inspection of the parade mounted by the participating schools. The event then proceeded with addresses from the traditional and political leaders present.
In his address, Nene Ofei Tagbaja commended the community for its unity and commitment to development,
encouraging residents to continue working together towards a prosperous future. The Honorable Member of
Parliament, Hon. Bismark Tetteh Nyarko, also delivered a speech emphasizing the importance of collective
responsibility in national development and urging citizens, particularly the youth, to contribute positively to the
growth of the community and the nation. The District Chief Executive, Hon. Emmanuel Kwesi Laweh, in his
remarks highlighted the significance of the Independence Day celebration and reiterated government’s
commitment to improving the welfare of citizens while fostering hope and development within the district.
A major highlight of the celebration was the march past by students, which demonstrated discipline, patriotism,
and coordination among participating schools. Teachers supervised and guided the students throughout the parade.
At the end of the competition, awards were presented to the best performing schools:
* Primary School Category: Asesewa Anglican Primary School emerged as the winner.
* Junior High School Category: Asesewa Community D/A JHS took the first position.
The celebration ended successfully with appreciation extended to all participating institutions, traditional leaders,
security agencies, teachers, students, and community members who contributed to making the event memorable.
Overall, the 69th Independence Day celebration at the Upper Manya Krobo District Assembly provided an
opportunity for reflection on Ghana’s progress while strengthening the community’s resolve to build prosperity
and restore hope for future generations.
