UPPER MANYAKROBO DISTRICT DISTRIBUTES BSTEM EQUIPMENT TO SCHOOLS

The Upper Manya Krobo District Assembly, in collaboration with the District Education

Directorate, has begun the distribution of BSTEM equipment to selected basic schools to

strengthen Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education in the area. The

first phase of the exercise took place from 27th to 29th January 2026.

The distribution team included the Member of Parliament, Hon. Bismark Tetteh Nyarko, the

District Chief Executive, Hon. Emmanuel Kwesi Laweh, and the District Director of Education,

Madam Evelyn Nyarko. Schools visited so far include Asesewa D/A School, Asesewa Islamic

School, Akateng D/A Basic School, Anyaboni R/C School, Anyaboni D/A School, Agajajeter D/A

School, and Akokoma Sisi D/A School.

During the event, the Member of Parliament, Hon. Bismark Tetteh Nyarko, commended the

collaborative effort, expressing his hope that the initiative would significantly boost STEM

education in the district. He encouraged schools to make meaningful use of the resources for the

development of the pupils.

Hon. Emmanuel Kwesi Laweh on the other hand, highlighted the importance of the BSTEM

equipment for improving practical teaching and learning in schools. He urged headteachers and

staff to use the items responsibly and to ensure they were properly safeguarded, rather than being

taken for personal use.

The District Director of Education, Madam Evelyn Nyarko, also emphasized the need for careful

handling and security of the items, stressing that the equipment should be used to benefit students

and enhance learning outcomes. Items distributed included projectors, laptops, calculators,

mathematical sets and equipment, robotics kits, chalk, slates, and other essential BSTEM learning

materials.

The initiative is expected to continue in subsequent phases, reaching additional schools across the

district, with the goal of improving digital literacy, practical learning, and students’ skills in science

and technology.
