The inauguration and commissioning of the Akateng Tulaku and Slaughterhouse took place on Wednesday, 8th
April 2026, marking a significant milestone in the development efforts of the Upper Manya Krobo District.
Attendance
The event was attended by the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Emmanuel Kwesi Laweh, District Police
Commander, DCOP Benjamin Abeka Buxton. Traditional authorities, including the Dade Mantse of Akaten
Tulaku and his sub chiefs, as well as staff of the Upper Manya Krobo District Assemblyvwere also present.
Pre-Event Engagement
Prior to the commencement of the official program, the District Chief Executive held a brief meeting with the
Dade Mantse of Akaten Tulaku. Discussions centered on the effective use, management, and sustainability of the
facilities.
Commissioning of Akaten Tulaku
Following the engagement, the official commissioning of the Akaten Tulaku was carried out. In his remarks, the
DCE underscored the importance of the facility in improving sanitation, supporting local economic activities, and
enhancing the well-being of the community.
Handing Over of Slaughterhouse
After the commissioning, the team proceeded to the slaughterhouse, where it was officially handed over to the
chiefs and people of the community. The DCE urged the beneficiaries to ensure proper maintenance and
responsible usage of the facility.
