COMMUNITY SENSITIZATION ON PEACE AND PUBLIC SAFETY AT ASESEWA COMMUNITIES E & F

On 12th May 2026, the Asesewa District Police Command undertook an extensive community

Sensitization and engagement exercise at the Methodist Church, targeting residents of Asesewa

Communities E and F in the Upper Manya Krobo District. The initiative formed part of ongoing

Efforts by the Police to deepen public awareness on issues of peace, security, and lawful conduct,

Particularly in addressing cases related to causing harm and other forms of violence within the

District.

The programmed recorded active participation from key stakeholders within the communities,

Including Dadematsemei, Assembly Members, youth groups, and women groups. Their presence

Underscored the importance of collective responsibility and community involvement in

Maintaining peace and order.

Addressing the gathering, the District Commander, Sup/t Benjamin Abeka Buxton, delivered a

Comprehensive presentation on the need for residents to uphold peaceful coexistence and mutual

Respect in their daily interactions. He emphasized that acts of violence and unlawful behavior not

Only endanger lives but also undermine the development and stability of the entire district. He

Further educated participants on the legal implications of engaging in acts that result in causing

Harm, noting that such offenses attract serious sanctions under the laws of Ghana.

The District Commander also highlighted the importance of adopting appropriate and lawful

Mechanisms for resolving disputes. He encouraged community members to make use of

Established structures such as traditional authorities, community leaders, and the Police, rather than

Resorting to self-help or violent confrontations. According to him, dialogue, mediation, and lawful

Reporting remain the most effective tools for sustaining peace within communities.

Furthermore, participants were strongly advised to collaborate closely with the Police by

Volunteering timely, accurate, and credible information on suspicious activities and criminal

Behavior within their localities. He assured them that all information provided would be treated

With the utmost confidentiality and professionalism, and that such cooperation is critical in

Preventing crime and ensuring swift response to security concerns.

The engagement also provided a platform for open interaction, where participants freely shared

Their experiences, concerns, and observations regarding incidents of causing harm and other

Security challenges within the area. Issues such as interpersonal conflicts, youth involvement in

Violent activities, and misunderstandings escalating into physical confrontations were highlighted

During the discussions.

In response, the Police addressed the concerns raised with clarity and reassurance, offering

Practical guidance on how such situations can be managed and prevented. The team further

Reaffirmed their commitment to intensifying patrols, strengthening community policing efforts,

And maintaining continuous engagement with residents to build trust and confidence.

The programmed concluded on a positive note, with a renewed commitment from both the Police

And community members to work collaboratively towards sustaining peace, enhancing security,

And promoting lawful conduct within Asesewa Communities E and F and the district at large.
