UPPER MANYA KROBO DISTRICT ASSEMBLY HOLDS SUCCESSFUL DISTRICT WIDE SANITATION EXERCISE.

The Upper Manya Krobo District Assembly today successfully carried out a district wide sanitation

exercise as part of efforts to promote environmental cleanliness and safeguard public health. A total of 506 residents participated in the exercise, which commenced simultaneously across the

various electoral areas within the district. Residents, assembly members, volunteers, and opinion

leaders took to the streets to sweep, desilt choked gutters, clear refuse dumps, and weed overgrown areas. The massive turnout reflected a renewed commitment by the people to maintain a clean and

healthy environment.

After working in their respective electoral areas, all participants converged at the Sekesua Market,

the district’s main market center, to continue the clean-up exercise. The team thoroughly cleaned

the market square and its surrounding areas, including lorry stations, stalls, pavements, and

drainage systems, ensuring that the busy commercial hub was left in a hygienic condition.

The entire exercise was coordinated and moderated by the District Environmental Office, with the

District Officer, Mad. Valestine Dzifa Agbenyefia overseeing activities across the communities to

ensure effective participation and proper supervision. Zoomlion Ghana Limited also provided

strong support in the coordination and operational aspects of the exercise, assisting with waste

collection and logistical arrangements.

The District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Emmanuel Kwesi Lawer actively participated in the

exercise, demonstrating leadership and commitment to the sanitation agenda of the Assembly. Also

present were the Member of Parliament (MP), Hon. Bismark Tetteh Nyarko, party executives, the

District Police Command, representatives of Zoomlion, members of the clergy including a Catholic

priest, and other volunteers who joined hands to ensure the success of the programmed.

At the end of the exercise, the District Chief Executive delivered a brief address, commending

residents for their impressive turnout and dedication. The DCE urged all community members to

sustain the spirit of communal labour and make cleanliness a daily responsibility rather than an

occasional activity.

The Member of Parliament also addressed participants, applauding the unity and cooperation

displayed. The MP emphasized that sanitation remains a shared responsibility and encouraged

continuous collaboration between the Assembly and residents to address sanitation challenges in

the district.

The exercise ended on a cordial note with refreshments served to participants, after which they

peacefully dispersed to their respective homes.

The Upper Manya Krobo District Assembly remains committed to improving sanitation and

environmental management and calls on all residents to continue supporting initiatives aimed at

keeping the district clean.
